1999 “Big Scholarship” winner Ryan Hunter-Reay and Veteran Jon Fogarty led the two-day test at Sebring International. However it was three of this year’s Skip Barber Formula Dodge National Championship Presented by RACER entrants who impressed, according to Pro Series Managing Director Jeremy Dale.

Bryan Sellers, Ryan Howe and Davy Cook joined season regulars Jamie Menninga, Tommy Fogarty, Milka Duno, Charles Putt, and Barber Dodge Rookie of the Year Roger Yasukawa in addition to Jon Fogarty and Hunter-Reay. Sellers, a 1999 “Big Scholarship” finalist, performed very well while turning in some quick laps times, leaving behind a favorable impression with the Barber Dodge coaches on hand. Equally impressive were Howe and Cook, who had their first try in the bigger, more powerful Barber Dodge Reynards.

“For their first time, Howe and Cook did a very, very good job,” said Dale.

That should provide a big boost of confidence for the three young racers as they head toward the opening round of the Skip Barber Formula Dodge National Championship that gets underway at Grattan Raceway on May 19-21. Each of the three has voiced their interest in contesting one or two rounds of this year’s Pro Series to test the waters should they be selected for the 2000 Barber Dodge Pro Series “Big Scholarship” Shootout later in the fall. The winner of which receives a full ride in the subsequent year’s Pro Series season.

As for the rest of those participating in the test, each duly pounded around the Sebring test circuit accruing mileage and valuable seat time during the seven-week break between the Nazareth and Lime Rock Park events.
