Barber Dodge Pro series racer Davy Cook made the transition from open-wheel to closed-wheel racing look easy when he participated in his first sports car road race in the SCCA's Longest Night. Cook was one of six Skip Barber trained racers making up the Nort Sport Team. Contesting the race were former Formula Dodge Southern Regional Series racer and Motorola Cup driver Ray Shaffer, racing talents Paul Goyette, Al Villamil, Greg White and Nort Northam. Northam's resume includes running in the only 24-hour race in an amateur series, the 24-Hours of Moroso.

Early in the action, Cook demonstrated his racing prowess when he registered the quickest lap time of 1:40.5 sec. Nort Sport competed against 51 other amateur race teams, qualifying 27th on the grid and finishing 15th overall, 5th in its class.
