As the Northeast dug out from underneath a New Year's blizzard, normally balmy Florida turned frigid as well. The resulting first Barber Dodge Pro Series test of the year held in temperatures that hovered in the low 40's, yielded slower than expected times, and contributed to some rare mechanical woes.

Jon Vannini bounced back from some previously frustrating testing outings last December to be high man on the totem pole this go around. He recorded a fast lap at 1:08.20 sec around Sebring International Raceway's 2-mile test loop. He was closely followed by Skip Barber Formula Dodge National Championship third-place finisher Craig Duerson who was just a tenth of a second slower at 1:08.30

Equally fast was newly named Barber Dodge Pro Series "Big Scholarship" recipient Jon Morley at 1:08.30. Morley was hampered with engine problems during his test. His quick time was set early on the first day of the two-day test, frustrating the Rookie of the Year hopeful and preventing him from lowering his time.

Two Skip Barber Race Series regulars tried their hand in the Barber Dodge Reynard. Matt Franc was the quicker of the pair at 1:08.80 with Scott Basinger hot on his heels at 1:08.90.

Barber Dodge sopohmore Tommy Fogarty was unusually at the bottom of the list. His second day of testing was cut unexpectedly short by fuel problems. He recorded his fastest lap at 1:09.00.

The Barber Dodge Pro Series will kick off the season on March 17 in support of the Exxon Superflo 12 Hours of Sebring.
