Formula Barber Dodge: Jonatan Jorge leads and boosts his advantage in the point-standings.

Brazilian driver Jonatan Jorge, (Montoya Racing/ Edgewater Construction/ TL Racing) increased his dominance in the Formula Barber Dodge - Southern Series, this past weekend in Sebring, FL.

With problems in his RT-200's gearbox, Jorge did not qualify well and started at the 9th place in the grid. With audacious overtaking, Jorge finished the race in second place, with Robbie Montinola as the winner.

For the 8th Round, on Sunday, the crowd expected to see a great duel between the two drivers, but Jorge was forced to change cars due to continued mechanical problems, and did so without testing the new car. Starting off in second, Jorge took the lead before the first turn, but Montinola overtook him shortly thereafter. A spinout in the 5th lap slipped Jorge into the fourth spot after which, in an amazing display of skill - and with the fastest lap of all groups in the event (2'26"083) - Jorge finished the race in second, just .48 seconds behind winner Robbie Montinola.

"It was one of the most exciting weekends that I've had here. I've gained an enoous fit me in my career. I could have won the race on Sunday, but I pushed too hard without evaluating well the behavior of the new car during the race... hitting the brakes too hard and spinning out. The two 2nd places put me in the lead of the championship with a 38 point advantage," said Jorge after the race.
