Following it's initial shakedown at Lime Rock Park in mid-June, the Gemini 5-speed sequential gearbox destined for the Formula Dodge R/T 2000 underwent rigorous testing at Road America June 28-30. After 402-miles of running in the hands of test driver Gregg Borland, the Gemini box performed beyond expectations.

The gearbox required some fine-tuning of the shifting mechanism and the gear lever position. Once completed, Borland said he greatly enjoyed driving the R/T 2000 with the sequential unit claiming that he loved the way it shifted.

Afterwards, technician Craig Farr disassembled the gearbox and reported no unusual wear.

"I was very impressed with the quality of the inner workings of the Gemini gearbox," Farr said. "It is very nicely machined and very stoutly made. My first impression is that this gearbox is going to be bullet proof."

Gemini has already gone into production of the unit in England, and the first batch should arrive at the Skip Barber Race Series factory in a few weeks. The target for complete conversion of the R/T 2000 fleet is set for sometime in the month of August.
