Josh Rehm, the 1998 Formula Dodge champion, made his European racing debut at Snetterton circuit, England today at the opening two rounds of the Formula Palmer Audi Winter Series.
The four-round series takes place on two double-header weekends in the UK. Rounds 1 and 2 take place on the dauntingly fast Snetterton circuit - a former American airbase in World War II - amid the wild flatlands of Norfolk whilst rounds 3 and 4 are at Brands Hatch near London, once the home of the British Grand Prix.
Formula Palmer Audi is a one-make single-seater formula with all the identical Palmer chassis powered by 1.8-liter turbo charged Audi engines of up to 350bhp on maximum boost. The action is fast and furious as a result of the close-matched cars, but for Rehm, double Formula Barber Dodge champion, the prospect is one to savor:
"I've been looking in to the right opportunity to go racing in Europe and this seems to be it," said Rehm. "The weather's a little different and standing starts are something new for me but I am confidant and really enjoying the build-up."
The blue and white Inside F1-backed Palmer Audi has already been tipped as the car to watch by British pundits and Rehm is as keen as ever to take everything in his stride as he seeks to further his racing career.
"Now I'm here and getting a feel for the British racing scene I can't wait to get on with the Winter Series. It's the right time of year for team managers to sit up and take notice of who's out there and I aim to throw down a decent marker."
