Barber Dodge Pro Series racer Milka Duno, winner of the 2000 Driver of the Year award in Venezuela, has elected to compete in the 2001 Open Telefonica Series with Monza-based Team Vergani Racing. The open-wheel series consists of eight European races; five in Spain and one each in Italy, Portgual and France. Duno, who hales from Caracas, will contest the series by piloting a 260-hp single seat Coloni chasis racecar shod with Michelin slicks.

Later this month, the 28 year old will co-drive for Viper Chamberlain Motorsport in the American Le Mans final at Adelaide, Australia. The bright, young racer first cut her teeth in 1998 at a Skip Barber Three Day Racing School held at Sebring International Raceway.
