GOOD WILL

DETROIT, Mich. (June 5) - As the track guinea pigs, so to speak, being the first of all the race groups to hit the new Belle Isle track, the Barber Dodge Pro Series practice session was remarkably incident free. Scott Meyer and Brian Pelke both slid down the escape road at the end of the new long "front straight," both cars lightly damaged. At the end of the 30-minute practice session, Will Langhorne, Owen McAuley and Rino Mastronardi were the three quickest, all in the high 1:35s. Fourth quick was Jeff Simmons, who continues to impress, and the always quick on street circuits Victor Gonzalez was fifth. "The track was actually ok. It wasn't icy slippery like some street circuits tend to be on Fridays. And I ran a little bit less wing than most, too," Langhorne said.

Lime Rock winner Thomas Schie was 24th, and Sebring winner Todd Snyder 17th.

First qualifying is this afternoon at 3:45 p.m. It started raining steadily halfway through the FedEx session; it may or may not be raining during Barber Dodge's qualifier.

The top 10 in practice:

1. Will Langhorne, 1:35.728 2. Owen McAuley, 1:35.850 3. Rino Mastronardi, 1:35.990 4. Jeff Simmons, 1:36.276 5. Victor Gonzalez, 1:36.397 6. Shane Donley, 1:36.487 7. Giovanni Anapoli, 1:36.795 8. John McCaig, 1:36.861 9. Jon Fogarty, 1:37.040 10. Sepp Koster, 1:37.126
