Hollister, Calif. May15, 2001- A.J. Allmendinger finished third in both rounds three and four of the Formula Dodge National Championship Series held in Indianapolis, Indiana. In round three on Saturday, A.J. started eighth.
He carefully and methodically moved his way through the field. By the end of the eighteen-lap race, A.J. Allmendinger crossed the finish line third missing second by only five hundredths of a second. For round four on Sunday, again A.J. would have to start eighth. He quickly made his way to the leaders and when it was all said and done, A.J. Allmendinger finished third making it to the podium for his third straight race.
Allmendinger accumulated the most points of the weekend out of any of the twenty-one competitors receiving 28 of a possible 42 points. A.J. took overthe points lead of the National Series Championship by eight after only his second weekend of his rookie season in a racecar. He also leads the series in podium finishes having finished on the podium in three out of the first four races.
"This is a fantastic start to the season. I could not have asked for a better start. Consistency is key in such a competitive series like this one. I am so thrilled right now to be leading the points and I know if I keep putting myself in the right position, my first win will come very soon."
