Barcelona, 4 July 2001 ³La Catedrale² will host the fifth meeting of the Open Telefonica, the FIA Single-Seater Series sponsorized by the Spanish Giant Company of Telecommunications: Telefónica.
22 drivers will line-up for a splendid double race programm in the GP Circuit ( 5,792 kms.) High performance and competitiveness will be in combination for the front row drivers. Tomas Sheckter (Vergani Racing) is the new leader since the last meeting at Valencia, but the Frenchman Franck Montagny, competing in the current top team, Epsilon by Graf, looks forward to replace this lead.

Andrea Belicchi, 3rd in the Championship, will race with his team, SITEC Motorsport. The Parma driver is the current record holder of the Series in this track (1.59.160), under wet conditions, and victories, 2 (1999, 2000). Matteo Bobbi (Adrián Campos Motorsport) is the second best italian driver in the overall standings. Born in Milano (1978), Bobbi tested for the Telefonica-Minardi Team during the 2000 Season in Vairano (Italy). FAMÀ Motorsport will line-up his two portuguese drivers, Giao and Alho. Manuel Giao, former Italian F3000 driver, still have the all-time record of pole positions, as he raced with this team in 1998 and 1999.
The Argentinian Leandro Iglesias (PSN Racing) will make his debut in this track, while Filiberti (23) knows very well this Italian track. Vergani Racing presents the unique female driver, Milka Duno, from Venezuela, wich recently participate with the Dick Barbour Race Team, in Le Mans.
The Prost Grand Prix Formula One Test Driver, Jonathan Cochet, will be back in the Series alongside Venturini Racing, after having participate in two Internatinal F3000 races, where he was 18th and 11th . <pre>
