23 August 2001 FRANCK MONTAGNY (Epsilon by Graff) is exactly as old as Marc Gené (BMW-WILLIAMSF1)was, when the Spaniard decided to pack from Buckingham Economics to Spain, and after a brief experience in the International F3000, he was about to give up racing. He was 23 years-old. So far, the victories achieved by the Frenchman (NTR: five from a total of ten races) had been as strong asthe ones achieved by the 'Catalan Rocket¹ in 1998. Three meetings to go, and the young South African talent Tomas Scheckter is still in the lead.

Today, the OPEN TELEFONICA teams are having a two-day private session program on the French Circuit of Magny Cours, prior to the sixth meeting of this spectacular series, to be celebrated the next SAturday the first of September.

- Franck, tell us about your session at Magny-Cours?

"I just love Magny-Cours. Sounds to me like victory (NTR: Two wins in his race career, with Formula Renault and French F3 Championship). I know the track very well under wet conditions, and last year, my team, Epsilon by Graff, showed pretty performant with their cars under a wet set-up."

- So it¹s rain or nothing?

"If it rains, we will be very quick, Although Antonio Gracia holds the lap record of the series (NTR:1.31. 339,(2000) wet). The Adrian Campos drivers showed to be damm fast here (Garcia and Alonso). Still very soon to do any predictions, but let¹s say I feel a little bit optimistic. Besides, this privated sessions will let me work with the Formula Nissan dry setup."

Franck is the star driver in the French team Epsilon by Graff, managed by Michel Lecompte, and his team mates are the young Geoffrey Dellus, and the expertise Gregoire de Galzain. The three drivers are keen to bright in his home race.

NEW DRIVERS IN VENTURINI

TOMAS SCHECKTER (Vergani Racing) is the current leader of this International Single Seater Series (145 points), followed by Montagny,(132 p.), and the Italian Andrea Belicchi (Doors)

But there is some news ahead. From now on, the drivers participating in the OPEN TELEFONICA may discount a total of FIVE RESULTS from the OVERALL STANDINGS instead of the original four. This modification was required by all teams to the Sporting Director of the Series, and so he has agreed!

On the other hand, VENTURINI RACING, the Parma-based team owned by Lello Venturini, has signed two drivers: the newcomer ABEL FAJAS, from Sabadell (Barcelona), who was driving for the spanish Skualo Competición, and the well reputed Spaniard JORDI NOGUES, whose team, G-Tec is having some serious economical problems. The Catalan has prooved to be one of the quickest drivers, but the little investment of the teams where he has been involved, had been the key of this large period of poor results..

The Single Lady competing in the Open Telefónica, Milka Duno (Vergani Racing) will have to profit as much as she can in today¹s session because on Friday, she has to attend one of the Events of the prestigious American Le Mans Series.
