LALLY, JUSTUS SCORE F2000 VICTORIES AT ROAD ATLANTA CAMIRAND LEADS SERIES TO TROIS RIVIERES STREET CIRCUIT
Andy Lally of Northport, N.Y. and Aaron Justus of Vista, Calif. captured United States Formula 2000 National Championship races at the Road Atlanta Motor Sports Center over the weekend but Canadian Marc-Antoine Camirand emerged as the series point leader going into Sunday's round at Circuit Trois Rivieres in Quebec. Lally was the fifth and final leader in a wet Saturday 20-lapper at the 2.5-mile road course. He caught T.J. Bell for the lead on lap 17 and led the final four laps in his Carbir Motorsports Carbir Ford to beat Bell and Camirand. Mark Dismore, Jr., Camirand, Justus and Bell preceded Lally as lap leaders. Justus led all 20 laps of Sunday's Southern Dash Road Atlanta feature in his Cape/Torco Racing Lubricants/MIR Van Diemen Ford, beating Camirand and Dismore. Camirand holds a 12-point lead over Englishman Dan Wheldon in the US F2000 Championship Presented by Speedvision, with a 33-lap race scheduled on the 1.52-mile street course in Trois Rivieres, Quebec, Canada Sunday. Georges Forgeois of New York City and Guy Cosmo of South Setauket, N.Y. won the respective American Continental Championship classes for older cars in the two weekend Road Atlanta events.
