"The team has been working very hard and is very excited about the opening round of the season at Sebring," said Pecorari. "I feel working with most of the people that were involved with my karting career will make for an easier transition and will enable us to accomplish our goals much quicker."
Team GNP Corsa Group/J&J Racing was formed by John and Jim Giacomelli, owners of J&J Racing, and Jon Nevoso, who has managed and developed Marco Andretti's karting career for the past two years. The team will also campaign a second car for karting standout Tony Loniewski, who has won nine national championships and 10 regional championships in the past three years.
"What we hope to accomplish is to give these young karters a clear path and smooth transition into auto racing, with a quality team, professional atmosphere and, most importantly, familiar faces with backgrounds similar to theirs," said Jim Giacomelli. "We formed this group not only to enhance these kids' careers, but to advise them on the management and marketing end as well.
"We can show them ways to promote themselves so they're not just spinning their wheels and wasting their money," said Nevoso.
Team GNP Corsa Group/J&J Racing has associated themselves with some of the finest professionals in the racing industry, including lead race engineer David Kanning and driving coach Justin Prichard.
Kanning has many years of experience in open wheel racing and has worked closely with such well-known drivers as Sam Hornish Jr., Caroll Smith and Alex Tagliani, as well as with Team Players and Mike Shank Racing. He also engineered in Europe with Team Rosberg's F3 program in 2000, along with making special appearances at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Nurburgring
Prichard, who will serve as the team's driving coach, has been involved in open wheel racing since 1994. He is very familiar with the cars and the tracks and is still currently racing at the national level. Prichard's career highlights to date include winning the 1996 Formula Continental National Championship, the 2002 Formula Ford National Champion at the SCCA Valvoline Runoffs and the 2002 Road Racing Drivers Club Mark Donohue Award.
