CENTENNIAL, Colo. (November 8, 2002) -- Continuing last year's trend of giving opportunities to young, up-and-coming drivers, Champion Racing tested Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Champion Bryan Sellers Thursday in an Audi S4 Competition at Moroso Motorsports Park, in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Searching for young driving talent, Champion Racing ran a third Audi SR Competition in five rounds of the 2002 SPEED World Challenge GT Championship, with drivers Joel Nelson, Paul Edwards and Marino Franchitti teaming with the team's regular lineup of five-time World Challenge Champion Michael Galati and racing legend Derek Bell. Nelson and Edwards would not only turn heads in the World Challenge paddock, they both would go on to be named as finalists in the Red Bull F1 Driver Search program.

Continuing the search for new talent, Champion Racing turned to the SCCA Pro Racing ladder system, with Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Champion Sellers at the top of their list.

The newly-crowned Zetec Champion, Sellers put in ten laps around the 2.25 mile, ten turn round course, adapting to the much heavier all-wheel drive Quattro sedan.

"It is definitely different from what I've been racing," said Sellers, who won a record-tying eight times in Zetec competition this year. "The test went pretty well but we were limited by the number of laps that I turned in the car. I think that if I had put in about five more laps, I would have been a little closer in speed.

"The biggest differences are probably the braking and how the car corners. When you approach the corner, you don't feel like the brakes are slowing the car down at all, but they definitely are. When you enter the corner, you can't turn in late, like you can in the Zetec car. You have to be precise or you'll never make the corner.

"Champion Racing is a great bunch of guys to work with. This test was an excellent opportunity for me to drive the car and see what the team thinks."

This test is the first of several that Champion will have in the off-season evaluating young driving talent. For more information about the Champion Racing and the SPEED World Challenge, please visit www.world-challenge.com.
