FAIRFIELD, N.J. (October 29, 2001) -- This past week U.S. F2000 National Championship driver Arnold Brinkmann participated in a FIA Formula 3000 International Championship test.

Brinkmann contested the two-day test with Italian-based Coloni Motorsport. Running on the challenging 2.71-mile Estoril road course in Portugal, Brinkmann used the first test day to become acclimated to the 500 horsepower car. On the second day he posted a quick time of 1:33.720 (104.097 mph), seventh quickest in the session.

>From 1987 to 1991 Coloni Motorsport competed in Formula 1 with such drivers as Alex Caffi, Gabriele Tarquini and Roberto Moreno. After leaving Formula 1, Coloni Motorsport has competed in Italian Formula 3, as well as Formula 3000.

Brinkmann has raced in U.S. F2000 for the past three years. In 29 career starts, he has captured nine top-10 finishes and two top-five finishes, which he scored this past year.

The U.S. F2000 National Championship resumes its training of the world's best young drivers with a pre-season winter test, December 11-13, 2001 at Roebling Road in Savannah, Georgia.
