FAIRFIELD, N.J. (March 7, 2000)—Andy Lally, the all-time leader in U.S. F2000 top-10 finishes, has signed with Carbir Race Cars to run the entire 2000 U.S. F2000 National Championship. Lally, of Northport, N.Y., returns to Carbir Race Cars after contesting the final seven races of the 1999 season with the team. In his first race with the team, at Road Atlanta, Lally won his first career U.S. F2000 race and gave the marque its first-ever win. He went on to finish 11th in the Championship, posting five top-five finishes. For 2000, Lally will be driving the new 2000 Carbir, an evolution of the 1999 car. “I’m really excited to be back with Carbir for the 2000 season,” said Lally, 25. “We’re looking to build on what we accomplished last year in a partial season. Running a full season this year, I should be able to challenge for the title.” “We’re very happy to have Andy back with us in 2000,” said Brian Utt, Carbir Race Cars Owner. “The goal is to keep the momentum going from 1999 and give Andy a shot at the title. Andy’s experience in the series and setup expertise will also help our other drivers improve.” The 14-round U.S. F2000 National Championship season kicks off March 19 at Phoenix International Raceway, as part of the MCI Worldcom 200.
