Nineteen year old Andy Brumbaugh is in Sebring, FL this week competing with defending series champion Cape Motorsport in the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship. In pre-event practice Monday and Tuesday, Andy's first full days in his new car, he was consistently in the top 5 and usually in the top 3 overall. The car was not responding in final practice Wednesday morning. Cape did a great job in diagnosing the issues, finding both broken sway bars as well as a cooling issue. The team worked frantically but did a great job finishing up just as cars were rolling to the grid.

Brumbaugh was in the top 5 in qualifying until just before a red flag ended the session early and dropped to sixth overall with his flyer lap aborted. "I really had my sights set on the top 3 in qualifying," said Brumbaugh. "With all the work we had to do just to fix the car I'm delighted to just get out and give it a go. My mechanic, Caleb, did an awesome job. We just missed on the set-up so I am confident of better things to come here at Sebring."

Former karting champion Andy Brumbaugh returns to the Zetec Championship as a podium finisher and top ten overall finisher for the year. While not in school or at the racetrack Andy is now working as a racing driver coach.

You can follow Andy's progress this year as he competes for the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship on the series web site, www.usf2000.com, or his own web site, www.andybrumbaugh.com.
