Carmody takes Russell Triple Crown title; Scott Speed wire-to-wire winner in series finale,

Chris Carmody of Valencia, Calif. is the 2002 USAC Russell Racing Triple Crown Pro Series Champion, claiming the title with his third-place finish in Saturday's series finale at Infineon Raceway, formerly Sears Point Raceway.

Scott Speed, USAC's 2001 Formula Russell Champion, led all 22 laps of Saturday's race around the 2.52-mile road course after winning the pole position. He was trailed to the checkered flag by Jason Bowles, Carmody, John Mefford and Chris Nelson.

Carmody emerged from Saturday's race with a six point margin over Brazilian Victor Hugo Queiroz, who finished seventh in the 22-lap finale.
