Sonoma, CA 28-29 June 2003 Jason Kritikos won the first Fran-Am race he has competed in this past Saturday. He was also on the podium Sunday proving himself a force to be reckoned with. Jason Qualified on Pole Saturday and won with a five second victory margin. Sunday proved to have lady luck look upon him with slightly less favor. He never got a clear lap in qualifying, ending up third, and there was a problem with the no-lift-shift sensor in the race making it difficult to monopolize on the advantage he had exiting the corners.
"We had a great car all weekend," stated Jason, "in the first race it really came in about half way and I was able to pull away from O'Young. The car was great on Sunday as well but I would lose some time when I shifted because of the no-lift-shift malfunction. I am excited to have finished first and third my first weekend in the car especially given the amount of talent that is now in the field. I would also like to thank all of the sponsors who put me in the car; World Speed Motorsports, MMI Karting, Mike Greci, OpenAuto.com, and Seattime.com."
"Jason was fast out of the box on Friday," commented World Speed team owner Telo Stewart, "he was seconds ahead of everyone and while we new they would catch up a bit, it was encouraging. Jason definitely knows how to get the most out of a car and did it flawlessly all weekend. It was a pleasure having him in our camp."
While this was a one-off weekend, given his success, Jason and his sponsors are doing what they can to get him in the car for the next round of the Fran-Am West series which will be at California Speedway in Fontana, CA on the 13th of July.
