LEIMER TAKES FIFTH POLE POSITION

Jenzer Motorsport's Fabio Leimer claimed his fifth International Formula Master (IFM) pole position today, for the Series' thirteenth round at the Motorsport Arena circuit in Oschersleben, Germany.

Setting the fastest time of the 30-minute session with six minutes to spare, Leimer completed his lap in 1:21.724, ahead of JD Motorsport's Sergey Afanasiev whose quickest time of 1:21.915 secured him second on the grid for tomorrow's race.

ISR's Alexander Rossi posted the afternoon's third fastest lap in 1:22.093 and will start round 13 alongside his IFM Rookie classification rival Jenzer Motorsport's Pål Varhaug. Varhaug's best lap of 1:22.299 placed the young Norwegian in fourth, ahead of ISR's Erik Janis who completed his quickest lap in 1:22.406.

Despite posting times good enough for a second row start, JD Motorsport's Josef Kral final time of 1:22.488 earned him a sixth-place start, whilst Cram Competition's Frankie Provenzano posted a season-best qualifying lap in 1:22.719.

The Italian will start tomorrow's race in seventh, alongside Iris Project's Patrick Reiterer whose best time of 1:22.881 placed him eighth.

Tomorrow's race will take place at 12.05 local time, with Eurosport's coverage beginning at 12.00 (CET) on Eurosport International. Sunday's race two will also be broadcasted on Eurosport International, from 10.45 (CET).

Fabio Leimer, Jenzer Motorsport

"I'm pretty happy to be on pole position again; it means I gain one more point but at the moment I really am just looking at winning races. The championship can come as a result of that. Now I'm focusing on winning more races than Chris van der Drift did last season. I think he won six races and I want to beat his record, so I need to win one race here and one in Imola at least.

"I will try tomorrow to make a race like I have done most Saturdays and then for Sunday, we will see because it's not as easy to overtake here as it was last weekend in Spa. We will see what's possible!"

Sergey Afanasiev, JD Motorsport

"It was a good fight for pole between Fabio [Leimer] and I; most of the session was just between us and I'm looking forward to a race where it will be the same. I know I could have gone faster on the second set of tyres as I had some traffic so I will be fighting for the lead. Fabio is a very clean driver and I hope he thinks the same of me so we should have a good clean battle tomorrow!"

Alexander Rossi, ISR

"We were quick in practice but couldn't be the same in qualifying unfortunately. Third was all I could get out of the car, it was a perfect lap so I have to be happy with it. It's going to be difficult tomorrow; it's a tough track to pass but you never know what can happen.

"If it rains; I'd love it. I'll be hoping for that, it would even out the playing field a little bit and make for a very exciting race."
