FORMULA MASTER TITLE DECIDER AT FINAL ROUNDS

Formula Master's 2008 winner will be decided next weekend in Monza, Italy, in the Series' final two rounds of the season. Drivers Classification leader Chris van der Drift and his challenger Michael Ammermuller remain in the title chase with 13 points between them.

The Autodromo Nazionale di Monza sees a return to familiar ground for the Formula Master drivers, after last weekend's inaugural race meeting in Imola. Although not all contenders raced there in 2007, the Monza circuit traditionally hosts the Series' first testing session in March, which features all teams and drivers.

"We were at the front or in the top three throughout the test earlier this year," said JD Motorsport's van der Drift. "And we have kept this momentum throughout the season so Monza looks promising.

"If nothing goes wrong and we set the car up well, we should qualify near the front. Overtaking is definitely possible at Monza so we will have to watch out for people passing, but it can work for us too if we don't start the race from row one.

"Michael [Ammermuller] is 13 points behind me so I just hope to score points in the first round and secure the title. We'll do everything to make sure the race goes well but things beyond our control could happen like in Imola! Let's hope we can add the drivers' title to the teams' and finish a great season on a high!"

Team JD Motorsport claimed the Teams' crown in Imola ahead of Trident Racing, but all three drivers' titles are still open. In addition to leading the main Drivers Classification, van der Drift currently holds the most points for the Team-mates title with fellow JD Motorsport driver Vladimir Arabadzhiev.

In the Rookies Classification, only Iris Project's Michael Ammermuller and Jenzer Motorsport's Fabio Leimer remain in contention with 18 points between them.

Formula Master's feeder status to the higher echelons of motorsport continues to strengthen with van der Drift posting the fifth fastest time with Trident Racing in today's GP2 Series testing session at Paul Ricard.

Eurosport's coverage for Formula Master's race weekend in Monza will begin Saturday 4 October with race one shown live at 12:15 (CET) on Eurosport International and Asia Pacific. Sunday's race two will be broadcast live on Eurosport 2 at 14:15 (CET).
