Giacomo Piccini sums up some points on the Pergusa race track.

The fifth round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship took place on the Pergusa race track in Sicily this weekend. Although he started in ninth place, Giacomo Piccini summed up some points by finishing in sixth place. The qualifications and the race were jeopardized due to the engine breakdown on Friday during the free test session. At that point, the team decided that Giacomo would race with his ex team- mate's (Pastorelli who is now in the Euro 3000 series) car, which needed to be completely fine tuned . Even if he managed to gain three positions, this problem influenced the Toscan's weekend and didn't manage to get beyond the sixth place.

"Without blaming the team or myself, I must say that I'm not at all happy about this weekend in Pergusa.Unfortunately, during the first free practice session on Friday, the engine broke down and we hardly ran any laps. During the second session, I had my ex team-mate's car. Much to my dismay, this session took place under the rain and consequently couldn't work on the set up of the car. This problem followed us the day after during the first qualifying session. While everyone else was trying to get the best time, we were trying to find the right set up of the car. With these conditions at hand, I wasn't able to get beyond the ninth place. The second session was in the scorching hot afternoon. The asfalt was 50° compared to the 25° of the morning session. Finally, with a well balanced car and regardless of the slow track, I managed to gain a decimal of second but remained in ninth place. My only consolation is that I was the only driver who manged to lower his time. Starting so behind on the grid influenced the whole race : I was able to recuperate a few positions but right from the start the car started to have an oversteering problem and this complicated my life even further. By finishing in sixth place, I summed up six points that allow me to be in fourth place overall."
