MOORE TAKES EARLY CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD WITH DOUBLE VICTORY
Near-perfect weekend for series returnee at Donington Park
Jason Moore won two of the opening three rounds of the 2008 Formula Palmer Audi Championship at Donington Park and left the circuit leading the championship.
Two wins, a podium and three fastest laps made for a near perfect weekend for the series returnee, with all three races being run in cool, dry conditions. A satisfied Moore said: "It has been a really good weekend, I couldn't have asked for much more."
The other victory of the day went to Richard Plant, his first in FPA, but he suffered mixed fortunes in the other races, including a non-finish and a recovery drive to fifth in the final race. "I wanted at least a podium this weekend but to get a win was fantastic," commented Richard. Aside from his win, he will be seeking better consistency at future rounds.
Pre-season favourites Alex Brundle, Jack Clarke and Jolyon Palmer all demonstrated plenty of consistency, recognising the importance of scoring good points on the opening day, though all three are still looking for their first wins of the year.
Alex Brundle demonstrated great racecraft with a trio of passing moves at Redgate during the day as he improved upon his grid positions to take a second, third and fourth in the races. Brundle said: "It has been a pretty good day. I worked hard on my fitness over the winter but generally I just feel more confident in the car." He lies second in the championship with Clarke and Palmer close behind.
After two second places, Tom Bradshaw ended his day in the gravel in race three. He will be disappointed not to have finished but has shown that he has the pace to challenge for the title and lies in fifth place.
