Ford Formula Campus championship starts the season in Shanghai Tianma Circuit
Ford Formula Campus championship (FFC) will have its season opener on 1st & 2nd, August at Shanghai Tianma Circuit (STC)'s Speed and Culture racing weekend. FFC, one of the FRD's signature races, firstly started in 1997 and is now entering its thirteenth successful year.
2009 season FFC is featuring six teams: Harbour View Hotel team, Baleno racing team, Channel Dressy team, Kumho Tires team, S & K team and Ming Hui racing team. The FFC drivers are mainly from Hong Kong, America, Australia and Macau. Eric Kwong, who is also competing in CTCC 2000cc class this year, is having his formula debut in FFC this time. Sunny Wong, Robert Webb, Sin Ho Ming and Calvin Tse are also rookies. Rich Pham and Diana Rosario are two drivers from 2008 FFC championship and they are back for 2009 season. Filipe Souza raced in Asian Formula Renault championship years ago and he turns to FFC racing for Channel Dressy team. It is the first time that FFC compete in Speed and Culture racing weekend. The event is organized and promoted by STC with very good reputation in car owners in Mainland China.
Formula Campus features 1600cc engine and five-speed gear. 2009 season, the whole fleet had new 6 points safety belt. FRD sends a 16 people professional technical team to STC, making sure that each campus car will at least have one mechanic. Meanwhile, every Formula Campus car has Motec data analysis system and with the professional data analysis instructor the drivers will be able to improve their laptime better. It has been rainy in Shanghai Song Jiang district for the past few days and the weather is turning better now.
Formula Campus series introduced more than hundred drivers to professional formula race through the past 12 years. 2009 season, awesome show is promised from FFC.
