Derek completed a very successful days testing, with the Da Vinci Team at Monza on Wednesday 21/06/00. This was the third official test of Italian Formula 3000 , leading up to the fourth round of the Championship that will be held at Monza this weekend.

Completing a total of 57 laps Derek finished the day in sixth position, with a time of 1,41.265 having concentrated on developing a race set up for the majority of the day. A total of twenty three cars completed the test.

The Autodromo di Monza is the home of the Italian Grand Prix and located in parkland on the outskirts of Milan. Monza was the track on which Derek's father, Phil Hill secured his Formula One World Championship for Ferrari in 1961. "It has been really great to actually get some testing in between races, especially at a circuit that I have previously driven in a Formula 3000 car, as I tested here at the end of 1998 with Supernova.

"I am sure we would have been even nearer the front, but there where a lot of Red flags at the end of the day when we looked to set a time and I did not get a single clear lap.

"We are in good shape for the weekend and I am looking forward to my first race at Monza, the circuit has so much importance to our family and the atmosphere here is always fantastic." Derek commented Wednesday evening.
