Daniel Hart to race in Zip Formula.
British karting ace Daniel Hart will make his single seater debut at Oulton Park next weekend in round five of the Zip Formula Championship.
The Norfolk-based teenager has already completed three Zip Formula installation days and will test again at Mallory Park on Wednesday before committing to the series for the remainder of the ten round championship.
"Having never raced a car before, I was a little bit daunted on my first installation run," he commented. "I adapted well after that though and I'm looking forward to racing at Oulton.
"My aim is for a top ten finish although as this is my first car race and my first time out at Oulton, I'll be happy to just complete the race. If all goes well, I'll continue in Zip Formula for the rest of the year and then do the winter series at the end of the season."
Despite his lack of car racing experience, Hart- who will celebrate his sixteenth birthday four days before his first Zip Formula race- is an established karter, currently running in the Super 1 Formula Junior Rotax UK series. In his first season of kart racing, Hart claimed the British Honda Prokart championship, going on to win the Club Rotax Max winter series before graduating to the series proper last year.
The Zip Formula Championship is the brainchild of karting legend, Martin Hines. Launched at Brands Hatch last November, the current ten-race season marks the first full year of competition for the innovative formula.
Targeted specifically at teenage karters wishing to make the move into car racing, Hines has combined close, exciting racing with the highest possible safety standards. The resulting 100bhp+ Zetec-engined machine teaches drivers car control and race craft without the dangers posed by the 'open wheel' design favoured by traditional entry-level formulas.
Daniel will be run by K-Tec Motorsport in the Zip Formula series and sponsored by leading domain name registering service, Freeparking.co.uk.
Round 5 of the Zip Formula Championship takes place at Oulton Park, 13 July.
