Brett Francis today took the lead of the Kent Formula Ford Championship after two dominant races at Lydden Hill with PA Motorsport. The Oasis Environmental Services backed Australian has won the five events he has competed in during 2000, and despite missing two rounds has put himself at the top of the points table.

It was another masterful display by Francis in his familiar 1993 Swift Formula Ford, with his rivals not able to match the pace that has netted him five out of five race wins plus five fastest laps during the season so far. He even lead the more powerful Zetec cars for a few laps during Sundays race after a demon start from his front-row grid position, although the superior straight-line speed of the slick-shod machines allowed them to blast past the "flying Australian" on the third lap.

As the eighth round of the championship approaches, Brett looks further ahead to the remainder of the season:

'It's great to be leading the championship despite being two rounds behind everyone else, but there's still a long way to go in many ways. I'm still trying to find the backing that will allow me to compete for the whole of the season, and I know PA Motorsport and Oasis are working hard to ensure that we can win the Overall Championship again. Knowing that the car and the whole team is working so well at the moment makes it even more frustrating to think that I could be sitting on the sidelines in a few weeks time.'

The next round of the Kent Formula Ford Championship is on the 18th June at Brands Hatch. Brett will be competing at this round, but is looking for backing to enable him to compete at the remaining races.
