Ricardo Zonta wants to set another doubble victory at the Circuit of Albacete.
The Telefónica World Series by Nissan will visit the Circuit of Albacete this weekend. This will be the last meeting of the Series before it steps in Monza (Italy) the next 7th of July
Albacete, 20 June 2002 - Ricardo Zonta wants to set another couple of wins for the FC Barcelona and the Gabord Team, as he already did in Jarama, the past 9th of June. He is currently leading the provisional standings, 26 points ahead the French Champ, Franck Montagny (Racing Engineering), one of the big favourite to obtain the Series final victory in this reputed yet new single-seater Series boosted by the 3000 cc. Nissan engine of 415 HP.
The Belgian KTR driver Bas Leinders is in the third place, followed by the Argentinean Nicolás Filiberti, another former F-3000 driver (Prost Junior Team), now in Zele Motorsport. The Austrian-based team will replace the Irish driver, Faulkner, by the young Italian Ivan Bellarosa, vice-champion of the F3 Italian Championship. "Damien is really a fast driver", said Team Manager Michael Zele, "but unfortunately he is lacking some budget^ÊI hope we will see him back again soon."
Adrián Campos Motorsport has inscribed only one of their Dallara Nissan, and only Villaamil will be on duty. A fire surprised the team during the refuelling last week at the same Albacete, where the team was holding a private test.
Speed, talent and big spectacle are currently seen in this unique single-seater competition field where 15 different countries are represented and races are diffused in three different continents: Europe, Asia and America.
The weekend program will also include the Formula Nissan 2000 category (215 HP) and the Spanish Formula Junior 1600-cc championship. The Italian test driver of the Minardi Team, Matteo Bobbi, is the solid leader of the first category, while the 15 year-old Spaniard Adrián Vallés is on top of the standings of the minor formula.
