Calgary Alberta Canada - Calgary resident and professional race car driver John Restemeyer will take his Indy Car rookie driver test on Friday, September 18, 1998 at Calgary's Race City Motorsport Park. Successful completion of his rookie test could result in John competing in the September 20, 1998 Indy Car race. "The cost effectiveness of the American IndyCar Series has made this dream a possibility", commented John during a recent interview. "To go to the other Indy Car series such as CART or IRL, I would have had to raise over a million dollars U.S. Thanks to the help of the AIS people, I'm getting the opportunity to fulfill a dream and hopefully achieve the AIS championship in the future." John follows in the footsteps of Greg Moore, Paul Tracy, Scott Goodyear and Jaques Villeneuve by moving to Indy Cars from other professional racing series. John current drives the Westward Tools Racing Camaro in the SCCA professional Trans-Am Racing Series. He has also competed in CASCAR, Formular Ford and a number of other racing series. John's wife, Lisa Restemeyer, a native of Calgary is personally chasing the 1998 Improved Touring Championship in a modified Toyota Corolla race car.
