VORRA Lovelock 250 Jul 20, 21, 22
Mister consistency strikes again! After what could be known as a short dry spell, Team Margarita has once again risen to the top. With 35 vehicles pre-entered in the race as compared to 23 last year, Lovelock, Nv. was packed with racers, crew and VORRA staff. As always, Sturgeons Hotel and Casino opened their doors wide with buffets in the mornings and evenings and a disk jockey for entertainment as well as a substantial addition to the winner purse.
Friday was tech and registration and course inspection of the 60 mile race course. Friday evening was the drawing for starting positions which put Sam Berri Racing third off the line in Class 10. The class turn out was amazing with a total of 10 cars. Our associates, Battle Born Racing, drew last starting position in class 8 trucks of the 8 entries meaning Doug really had some work to do.
By the end of the first lap, Sam had moved from third in class to first and was aggressively pursuing the race leader. Consistent laps, varying less than 2 minutes each was the key to success. Fueling at Pro Pit half way through lap two and in the main pits at the start of lap four made hardly any difference in lap times. We were on a roll! Call it what you will, "poetry in motion: pure perfection: consistency supreme" Team Margarita put on a show and finished the day in grand style.
When all the results were in, Sam had captured first place in class 10, second place in class one, and both second and third place overall. All achieved by entering the car in both classes, and putting on a flawless performance. Fire power by Trick Fuel and riding on BF Goodrich tires, it was a perfect day.
Congratulations to Doug Seymour of Battle Born Racing who finished in third place of eight entries. Thanks to all of our sponsors and to VORRA for another fantastic event. Check out the photos for some racer innovation. See if you can figure it out.
