Jean Calvin Passes Away
Off-road racing's greatest friend and supporter has passed away.
Jean Calvin, founder and editor of the monthly publication "Dusty Times," died early Monday evening in a California hospital. Sunday, on their way home from the Best in the Desert event in Tonapah, Nev., Jean and her husband, John, stopped off at a dear friend's home. They were joined by another of their closest friends and had a very pleasant dinner. As they prepared to leave, Jean had a serious fall and was rushed to a hospital in Valencia. Surgery was performed, but the prognosis was not good. At approximately 6:45 p.m. PST Monday evening (March 31), she lost her fight. In keeping with Jean's wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a contribution either to the Salvation Army or to their favorite charity. Those wishing to send cards should send them to Dusty Times' office: Dusty Times 20751 Marilla Street Chatsworth, California 91311 Calls to the office probably would not be a good idea at this time -- but only because the next issue goes to the printer this weekend. John is doing well under the circumstances, but he and the staff are going to need the time to wrap up the issue. I have had several conversations with John since Jean had her fall; and publication of "Dusty Times" *will* continue. Friends of the Calvins from around the country already are making plans to help with future issues. That's as much information as I have right now. Ed
