WHAT TO LOOK FOR AT BARK RIVER:
HOME RACE FOR ROOKIE HORD - Pro-Lite Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Chad Hord will be looking for his first career truck win this weekend at Bark River. Hord is from the Iron Mountain town of Felch, Mich., 35 miles from the Bark River Raceway. The 24-year-old off-road phenom is currently fifth in Pro-Lite points, only nine behind fellow Toyota Tacoma racer Steve Federico for the rookie-of-the-year title. Hord joined the Pro-Lite ranks this season after five successful seasons racing in the Sportsman Super Buggy class, where he won six races and the 2000 championship.
TACOMA RACERS BATTLE FOR ROOKIE TITLE - Federico, Wilmette, Ill., currently sits in the second spot overall in the Pro-Lite class behind defending champion Jeff Kincaid. Like Hord, Federico has run consistently this season, his first in trucks after a great off-road career racing in the Sportsman Single Buggy class. He has finished in the top four in four of five races and leads the series Rookie-of-the-Year chase.
KINCAID BACK ON TOP - After a slow start to due to bad mechanical luck, defending Pro-Lite champion Jeff Kincaid is back on top of the class standings. He has won three races in a row in his new Toyota Tacoma, which brings his career total to 17 (just four behind teammate Johnny Greaves in career Pro-Lite victories). Kincaid, Argonne, Wis., is also the defending champion at Bark River, having swept both races in 2000.
GREAVES IN THE GROOVE - All-time CORR win leader Johnny Greaves hit his stride at the last event in Crandon as he drove his new Toyota Tundra 4x4 to two hard-earned finishes. He took fourth in the first race and then captured a second-place finish in the Sunday event. After a slow start to the season, Greaves is moving steadily up the Pro-4 class standings, where he currently sits fifth, just 13 points behind second.
Chad Hord, Pro-Lite Toyota Tacoma: "I was a little nervous going into the season, but the great support I get from my sponsor - Boss - has allowed me to just concentrate on racing my race every weekend. We just wanted to finish every race, be competitive, and be in a position to win at the end. This weekend should be great. It's my home race and Boss is also sponsoring this race. I'm really looking forward to doing well in front of all the people that support me." <pre> 2001 CORR STANDINGS (after 5 of 16 events-Round 2 at Ft. Dodge was postponed):
