Scott Taylor finishes season like a true champion
New Berlin, WI -- September 14, 2003 - The permanent race facility in New Berlin, NY is one of the most demanding tracks in the Lucas Oil CORR series. The Unadilla Valley Sports Center track combines various terrain including, high speed straight-aways, demanding jumps, and elevation changes.
Going into the final two rounds of racing, Scott Taylor had already clinched the Pro-2 championship, but that didn't slow down the Taylor Racing Mobil1 BFGoodrich Ford F-150. The team was prepared for the weekend as if were the opening rounds instead of the closing rounds of racing.
Saturday saw a full field of Pro-2 trucks fighting for championship points. In the end Scott finished 2nd to Carl Renezeder with Evan Evans, Dan Vandenhuvel, and Tommy Bradley Jr. behind.
Sunday had Scott taking the lead from the start and never looked back. The win was Scott's sixth of the year. In fact, Scott finished in the top 4 in all 13 rounds of the season. His season points total was 48 points ahead of the second place finisher, Carl Renezeder.
"This year was definitely our toughest championship to win. The combination of veterans like Renezeder and Vandenhuvel stepping up their programs, and the addition of new drivers like Barlow and Bradley, really kept the team on its game. We could've put it on cruise control this weekend, but we're also out here for the fans and our marketing partners. Thanks again to all our fans and partners." -- Scott Taylor
