"The Richest Off-Road Race in Nevada"
Las Vegas, Nevada - The first race of the 2001 "Silver State Series", the Terrible's Town "250", will be held April 6, 7, 8, 2001, in Pahrump, Nevada, promoted by Best In The Desert Racing Association and hosted by Terrible's Town Casino. A $40,000 guaranteed total purse makes this "The Richest Off-Road Race in Nevada." In addition to the $40,000 paid, Ford Motor Company also has guaranteed an additional $10,000 in four specific classes if won in a Ford Truck.
The Terrible's Town "250" is a 250-mile loop race which will start and finish in Pahrump, Nevada, located 60 miles Northwest of Las Vegas on Highway 160. The event will feature a full array of off-road vehicles, which include, Motorcycles, Quads, Cars and Trucks. Best In The Desert Director Casey Folks says, "This is the fourth year of the Terrible's Town "250" and I expect over 100 Cars and Trucks of the top off-road racers racing for the additional $40,000. I also expect over 100 of the top factory Motorcycle and Quad teams to be racing. This is a big, big race, which is growing in popularity every year, in fact, I expect the 2001 "Silver State Series" racing year to be bigger than ever! Jerry, Ed, Troy, and Tim Herbst, who all love the sport of off-road racing, make a special contribution to this event by sponsoring a big after-race "Western Barbecue" celebration in the parking lot of their Terrible's Town Casino. After a hard day of racing, it's a great way to finish the day; eating barbecue chicken and watching the racers come in! The Awards Presentation will be held on Sunday at the Lakeside Terribles's, which was voted in the top 100 most beautiful RV Parks in the country. The 2000 "Silver State Series" Car and Truck winners, winning 1st in the 1500 Professional Class and 1st overall were Troy, Ed, Tim Herbst, and AJ Martin, driving a Ford Powered Smith Built Truggy. The Motorcycle winners, winning 1st in the Open Professional Class and 1st overall were David Ondas and Shane Esposito riding a Kawasaki, and the Quad winners, winning 1st Quad Pro and 1st Overall, were Jimmy Stephensen and Eric Dollente, riding a Honda. These are the teams to beat in 2001!
