ENNIS - Wet Grounds Force Schedule Change Sportsmen Thursday, Professionals Friday by Larry Sullivan ENNIS, Texas - SUMMIT FastNews - Wet grounds have forced NHRA officials to revise the 13th annual Revell Nationals event schedule to avoid parking competitors on the soggy unpaved areas of the Texas Motorplex. Basically, Thursday will be a Sportsman-only day for both qualifying and early eliminations, while Friday will be reserved for Professionals only. Professional category cars, including Pro Stock Truck, plus Competition Eliminator cars will not be allowed to park at the track until Friday morning. Sportsman cars who run Thursday will have to vacate the grounds Thursday night and will not return unti l there is sufficient dry space to park them. Off-site parking areas are available for the teams while they are not parked at the track. Thursday the Stock, Super Stock, Super Comp, and Super Gas competitors will get two qualifying/time trial runs and will then run their first round of eliminations. If time and weather allow, Federal-Mogul Dragster and Funny Car will make one qualifying p ass Thursday evening and Stock and Super Stock competitors will run a second round of eliminations. Professional categories and Competition Eliminator cars will park Friday morning and will make qualifying runs, starting at 10:00 AM, until the track is secured Friday night. Competition Eliminator and Pro Stock Truck competitors will lead off and will m ake three qualifying runs Friday. In addition to a morning session, the trucks will lead off the two regularly-scheduled Professional sessions, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, along with the other Professional categories (Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock). F ederal-Mogul categories (Dragster and Funny Car) will make two qualifying runs, prior to each full Professional session, at 1:00 and 5:00 PM. The Pro Stock Trucks will make one additional qualifying run Saturday morning, then go into their usual Saturday eliminations schedule. As soon conditions and space permit, Sportsman competitors remaining in competition will return to the track Saturday to resume eliminations. As during past events where the weather has been a factor, satellite parking for spectators will be available at both ends of Route 287 and spectators are advised to make use of these parking areas since parking at the track will be severely limited.
