VIPsports.com Goes To School--
Milford, Michigan. The Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Summernationals takes place this weekend in Commerce, Georgia and the VIPsports.com team is on the road south. With just a short rest after the their initial four week "spring tour" through Florida, Texas and Nevada, the crew and car are ready to race again.
In spite of the long drive ahead of them, the ParkerTech Racing Services crew made time to visit Highland Middle School, near their home shop in Milford. Sixth graders were treated to a tour of the support rig and the VIPsports.com Dodge Stratus Top Alcohol Funny Car. Frank Parker, team owner and crew chief, described the team effort involved in running a race car, how the car worked and answered lots of questions. Going by those questions, NHRA is going to have a new group of fans and junior dragster racers.
Performing community services is an important family value of Parker's and his crew. "I love doing things with kids," said Parker. "This presentation was really special because my daughter, Rachel, is in the class. In a way, the response from the kids is more satisfying than winning a race." When the transporter pulled out of the school parking lot, the whole crew was in high spirits from all the thanks and well wishes.
The Mopar Hemi-powered Dodge Stratus has been refreshed and is ready to make the winning run at the Atlanta-area track. Top Alcohol qualifying is scheduled for Friday, May 5, at 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm. The final qualifying session is on Saturday at 1:30 pm, with the first round of eliminations at 4:45 pm. The opening ceremonies begin Sunday at 10:00 am, eliminations at 11:00.
