Troy Coughlin returns as defending winner

Troy Coughlin will enter the O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals as the defending champion in Pro Stock. Last year Troy disposed of Mark Whisnant to score his first victory of 2002.

"Winning last year in Topeka was a great feeling and I smile every time I think about it," said Troy.

Troy is currently No. 16 in the NHRA POWERade championship. He has 228 points and can make a bold move forward with a strong performance.

"The five drivers ahead of me are within in reach," explained Troy. "With a strong performance this weekend we can make a big move forward. But, more importantly is where we want to be at the end of the current three-race swing. We have one down and two to go in the swing and our goal is to be inside the top-ten before we get to Columbus."
