DIXON CONTINUES DOMINATING RUN -- Larry Dixon returns to Topeka as the defending race champion, but he will be hard-pressed to match his performance this past weekend in Atlanta. Dixon not only won all four of Sunday's elimination rounds, but also had the fastest pass in each qualifying session to go a perfect eight-for-eight over the course of the weekend. Dixon arrives in Topeka having won three of the last four events and four total for the season. During this recent stretch, the two-time Top Fuel champion has registered 14-1 record in elimination rounds and is now 21-4 for the season. His amazing consistency has resulted in six semi-final or better appearances in eight races this season and he's qualified in the top three at every event. He will take a 112-point championship lead into Topeka.
CLIMBING THE LADDER -- Larry Dixon reached a career milestone this past weekend at Atlanta with his 52nd career win, tying him with Joe Amato for second on the all-time Top Fuel win list.
LAST YEAR AT TOPEKA -- After qualifying second, Larry Dixon went on to defeat Steve Chrisman, Cory McClenathan, Spencer Massey and Clay Millican to earn his second Heartland Park Topeka victory. He had previously won there in 2003. Antron Brown was the fast qualifier and advanced to the second-round where he was defeated by fellow Toyota driver Shawn Langdon who advanced to the semi-final. Morgan Lucas was eliminated in the first round. In Funny Car action, Del Worsham made it to the second round, while Cruz Pedregon fell in round one.
CRUZ'ING AT TOPEKA -- Cruz Pedregon arrives at Topeka as the second-winningest Funny Car driver ever at the track. The 2008 and 1992 Funny Car champion has won at the Kansas track four times, with victories in 1992, 1994 and twice in 1995.
