TONY PEDREGON NARROWLY MISSES FIELD AT TOPEKA; RETAINS TOP EIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP POSITION
Topeka, Kan.(June 5, 2007) -- Tony Pedregon, the 2003 NHRA Nitro Funny Car World Champion, and his Q Power team were in a most unusual position for final round eliminations on Sunday- watching from the sidelines.A rain-shortened qualifying session on Friday and small set-backs during Saturday's qualifying session kept the Q Power team from making the final round eliminations at the O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka, June 1-3, 2007.
"Anything less than making it to the final is disappointing," said Pedregon. "We come to the track expecting to win.We had a couple of real small issues creep up on us during qualifying and that proved to be the difference."
Resiliency is the mark of a championship team and Pedregon and the Q Power team wasted no time in bouncing back.
"We are way too good of a team to let this effect us too much. It's my job to make sure we do all we can to win," stated Pedregon. "We've already began to review these small issues. We will be ready to get this Q Power team back in the Winner's Circle in Chicago."
As the Q Power Team heads for the Torco Race Fuels Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Chicago, Tony Pedregon will be expecting to improve upon his 6th place position in the Countdown to the Championship points.
