In the opening round Jeg faced off against Rickie Smith. Both drivers sat with their pre stage lights on through a series of engine clean outs. After they finished staging, Jeg took the starting line advantage by .016 seconds (.451 to .467). The two cars were side-by-side from start to finish as the Jeg's machine moved all over the left lane.

The win light came on for Rickie Smith by .0028 seconds at the stripe. Jeg ran slower a 6.987 at 198.20 mph.

"When the Jeg's Chevy Cavalier left the starting line that car started to move around. The car was moving around a lot down track as it was fitting for traction. We were both side-by-side and I stayed with it. We missed another opportunity by not winning the first round. WJ went out in the first round and Kurt did not qualifying. We really could have made a solid move forward in the points," said Jeg.

Troy Coughlin and his yellow and black Jeg's Chevy took on Mike Edwards in round one. The two drivers left together and the advantage went to Troy slightly (.476 to .479). The two Chevy Cavaliers battled for the win light all the way down the track.

Edwards took the win light by .0035 seconds at the finish line. Troy ran a 6.976 at 198.09 mph to the slightly quicker 6.970 at 198.76 mph run of Edwards.

"After seeing my brothers car move all around in the left the guys raised the wing up and it really helped settle the car down. We had a close race from start to finish. We just needed a little more in our lane," explained Troy
