Team Jeg's wanted to come out swinging on the second day of qualifying and that is exactly what they did. Jeg and Troy Coughlin began the final day of qualifying sitting in the No. 5 and No. 20 spots respectfully.
In the third session Troy was on the outside looking. The Jeg's Chevy Cavalier rolled into the left lane. He launched from the starting line and blasted down the middle of the groove from start to finish.
Troy ran a 6.916 at 199.67 mph and moved up to the No. 15 spot. He made the sixth quickest run of the session and posted the fourth fastest speed.
"The run that we made during the third session is a real testament to teamwork. Racing can be a real emotional roller coaster. You need to stay focused and remain up beat at all times," explained Troy.
Jeg also took on the left lane during the third qualifying session of the weekend. The Jeg's bow tie showed real strength. He ran a 6.894 at 200.17 mph and remained in the No. 5 position. Jeg laid down the third quickest run of the session and was the second fastest speed.
"We took what we learned from all of the runs that Troy and I made on Friday and put our best foot forward," said Jeg.
Troy rolled into the right lane for the final session. He launched from the line and headed for the right side of the groove. The car lost traction and Troy was forced to shut the Jeg's machine off and coast to the finish line.
"That was not the run that we were looking for in the final session. I really think that we have turned the corner with this Jeg's Chevy Cavalier and we will be ready on raceday when it counts the most," said Troy.
Jeg also took on the right lane for the final run of qualifying. The Jeg's machine launched and made a quick move to the left and Jeg quickly drove back to the center of the groove. He crossed the finish line beams with a 6.982 at 199.32 mph.
"I think that our team is back to hitting on all eight cylinders again. Raceday brings out the best in everyone and Team Jeg's is looking forward to rising to the occasion to get this Jeg's Mail Order Chevy Cavalier back into the winner's circle and reclaim the points lead," said Jeg.
In the opening round Jeg Coughlin will go head-to-head against Rickie Smith. Jeg will have lane choice when the two meet. Troy Coughlin will face off against Mike Edwards in round one. The Jeg's machines will battle from opposite sides of the ladder.
