Connolly Ran Qualifying Best of 6.719 Seconds

TOPEKA, Kansas, June 2, 2007 -- Dave Connolly and Evan Knoll's Torco Racing Fuels/Seelye-Wright Automotive Chevy Cobalt Pro Stock team turned in a solid Saturday qualifying effort and came away with the No. 2 starting berth for Sunday's O'Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka.

Connolly registered the event's second quickest elapsed time (6.719 seconds at 204.66 mph) on an unpredictable racing surface in Saturday's opening session and came back with a 6.725-second lap that was impressive because it was second-best in the right lane. That lane traditionally goes to the driver without lane choice.

"We made two pretty good runs," he said, "but, unfortunately, we hurt a motor in the process on the second one so we are going to have to make an engine swap Sunday morning. We'll make some adjustments and get ready to battle it out tomorrow.

"I'm glad we got to keep lane choice because it looks like there is a preferred lane right now."

Connolly races Greg Stanfield (No. 15, 6.768 at 203.71) in the opening round.
