McClenathan Qualifies Second at Hot Summer Nationals

It looks like Cory McClenathan and the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM Boost Top
Fuel team have a hot weather tune-up ready for the upcoming summer months.
McClenathan had the second-quickest elapsed time in Saturday qualifying
(4.714 seconds)for Sunday's O'Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka.
His weekend best was 4.602 seconds at 316.30 mph that was run in the Friday
night session that produced virtually all of the best times.

Temperatures above 90 degrees, plus high humidity, madeit tough for the crew chiefs. McClenathan, with crew chief Wes Cerny and his assistant, Tony Shortall, doing the tuning, the orange and black FRAM dragster added a run of 4.754 seconds.

"Weather played a huge part in what happened this weekend," said
McClenathan, who shut off early after smoking the tires on his final attempt. "We ran
consistently good numbers. Wes told me he was going to see how much the track
would hold on the last run so he expected it to smoke the tires. Wes will
just go back to the tune-up that was so consistent and get ready to race."
McClenathan squares off against Doug Herbert (15th, 4.797 at 305.91) in the
first round for the second straight race.

"We definitely want to go rounds on Sunday."

He was runnerup last Sunday at Columbus, Ohio.
