RAIN WIPES OUT SECOND DAY OF ACTION
POMONA, Calif., February 25, 2011 - A persistent rain washed away the second day of qualifying here Friday for the 51st annual Kragen O'Reilly Auto Parts Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway.
U.S. Army Top Fuel driver Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher will head into Saturday's two qualifying sessions holding third in the starting order based off his Thursday single run - 3.804- seconds at 316.38 mph.
"Man, we were anxious to get back on the track today," said the Chicago-area resident.
"We really wanted to take a run at the provisional pole (which his U.S. Army Racing teammate, Antron Brown, currently has). We'll just have to hope the weather gods are kinder to us tomorrow."
Brown, Spencer Massey, Schumacher, Del Worsham and defending world champion, Larry Dixon, make up the top five going into the final day of qualifying.
"It would be nice if we get the opportunity to challenge for the number one spot," said Schumacher. "If that doesn't happen, it's no big deal. My U.S. Army car is running well right now and winning the race is the ultimate objective."
