Tony Pedregon/Quaker State Racing Crew Wins "Best Appearing Car" Award in Las Vegas.

CAMARILLO, CA, April 15, 2004 -- The Quaker State Racing Funny Car, driven and owned by defending Funny Car champion Tony Pedregon, has been awarded the "Best Appearing Car Award" by the National Hot Rod Association. They won the award at the NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas, NV.

"Out of the hundreds of cars here this weekend, we felt Tony's Quaker State Chevrolet Camaro stood out from the rest," said Rick Quasada, NHRA Marketing Director.

A group of people from NHRA look for cars that standout from the rest and then narrow it down to three or four before making their final selection. They look for a car that is clean, professional looking and has a nice paint scheme.

"We were very pleased to here that we were chosen for the Best Appearing Car Award, said Pedregon. "We take pride and making our Quaker State Funny Car one of the sharpest looking ones out there, so it's exciting to see that it paid off. It's great to have Quaker State recognized as having the best looking car considering the amount of cars that were in attendance.

Pedregon is in his first season as team owner and driver of the Quaker State Nitro Funny Car. In just four races he's managed to earn a runner up finish (Phoenix) and won the low qualifier award in Las Vegas with a track record elapsed time (4.747ET).

"In a short amount of time I feel we've really gotten the performance level where it needs to be and now we just need to focus on consistency, added Pedregon."

Quaker State is a leading brand of motor oil in the United States, and is marketed in over 45 countries around the world. On October 1, 2002, the acquisition of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company by Shell Oil Company, an affiliate of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies, was completed. In May of 2003, Pennzoil-Quaker State Company began doing business as SOPUS Products. Combining Shell lubricant's networks and infrastructure and Pennzoil-Quaker State Company's leading motor oil brands, portfolio of car care brands and Jiffy Lube stores, the new company is a leader in the U.S. lubricants and car care business.
