For the first time since Richmond 2008, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car team will sit out on race day.

Tasca was as high as p13 after the second of four Funny Car qualifying sessions of the weekend, but only the top 12 times and speeds are carried over into the next day’s standings, so the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team started Saturday with no time, then failed to bump into the show with a 6.338-second pass at 102.46 mph in the third session and 4.300 at 262.18 in the fourth.

Tasca failed to make the field for the first time in 94 races.

“It’s a very disappointing way to end the season,” said Tasca, who will start his sixth year as a Funny Car driver next year. “All something like this can do is strengthen our resolve to come out in 2013 strong. The inconsistencies of our car plagued us throughout the season. It’s clearly not the way we wanted to end the season.”
