“We are focused on a win in the desert,” said Tasca, who earned his Funny Car license at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. “The competition this year will be unmatched compared to any year that I have raced. You need to go deep into the day on Sunday consistently to give your team a shot at the championship when the end of the year rolls around.”

Tasca says his team made major strides while struggling to qualify in the opening week of the NHRA season. “We really got a handle on the balance of power-to-clutch ratio as the weekend went along,” he explained.

Tasca qualified for Sunday’s elimination rounds in Pomona on his final try with a run of 4.132 seconds at 311.20 mph. Wins over Cruz Pedregon and Ron Capps gave Tasca a semifinal appointment with eventual winner John Force.

“We were a little bit down on Friday and Saturday, but we came out swinging on Sunday,” Tasca said after the Winternationals. “I feel really good going to Phoenix.”
