LAS VEGAS, April 1, 2012–It only took one “get healthy” week for Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car team to move up four places in the NHRA Full Throttle Series point standings. Tied for 10th going in to the race at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS), they leave in sixth behind the power of their first final-round appearance since Indianapolis last year.

Tasca runnered-up at The Strip at LVMS, the same track where he first hit the throttle in an NHRA Funny Car. After qualifying No. 2 with a 4.134-second lap at 307.86 mph to “One Ford” teammate Robert Hight, the two met in the final round – a No. 1-No. 2 car match-up that rarely happens.

In the final round the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team suffered a broken clutch disc but still clocked a 4.213 at 292.14 to Hight’s winning 4.154 at 312.93, extending Hight’s winning streak to three races.

This weekend was the first with the team for Dickie Venables, who joined sitting crew chief Chris Cunningham and co-crew chief Marc Denner after Gainesville.

Venables addition brought new dimension to the Motorcraft/Quick Lane pit that was visible.

“It’s good to be back on tour,” said Tasca, who picked up his first, second and third round win of 2012 in Las Vegas. “Going three races without a round win is tough. Getting to the final round, knowing you have a race car that can win and not winning is probably even tougher. I just want to say hats off to my whole team. Dickie Venables, Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner. It’s totally different when you bring in a new guy and I just can’t believe how well they work together. The Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car performed incredibly this weekend. I had a clutch malfunction. Something that a crew chief can’t fix and the crew can’t fix. It just happened. We had a disc come apart.

“But it’s been a dominating win for Ford, with Robert winning three and (Mike) Neff and John (Force) doing as well as they are. It’s nice to be part of the Ford team and I can tell you this, this team has a lot of momentum going into Charlotte.”
