Jason Line second after abbreviated qualifying at Gateway

MADISON, Ill. (May 5, 2007) -- Rains washed out Friday's qualifying for most of the Pro Stock cars. Reigning Pro Stock champion Jason Line was one of the drivers that were unable to make a Friday run.

When Jason Line brought his KB Racing LLC, Summit Racing Pontiac to the starting line on Saturday for his first qualifying attempt he made the most of the opportunity with a pass of 6.680 seconds at 207.05 mph, good for the No. 2 qualifying position.

"Our first run today was by far the best," said Line after qualifying ended. "We will use that run to tune for tomorrow's eliminations. We should have gone a little fast in that second run but it is what it is. We made some swing for the fence moves in that second session and the obviously didn't work out. We probably got a little overboard. We'll go back to basics and try again tomorrow. If we make good consistently safe runs and let the clutch out on time we should win some rounds tomorrow."

Line continues to hold down the second spot in POWERade points in the first segment of the Countdown to the Championship entering eliminations tomorrow. He has 397 points, 213 points behind his teammate Greg Anderson who leads all challengers. Line will face Justin Humphreys in the opening round of eliminations.
