Jason Line nipped at finish line by .014 seconds

MADISON, Ill. (May 6, 2007) -- Jason Line, who qualified No. 2, opened the door for Justin Humphreys and Humphreys took full advantage of the opportunity in the opening round of eliminations at the 11th annual NHRA O'Reilly Midwest Nationals.

Humphreys gained an advantage at the green light. The power of Line's KB Racing LLC, Summit Racing Pontiac GTO looked like he might overcome the advantage but the reigning champ ran out of track and was nipped by 14 thousandths of a second at the Gateway International Raceway finish line.

Line covered the quarter-mile in 6.663 seconds, while Humphreys recorded a 6.711 seconds elapsed time in a winning effort.

Next up for Line and his Summit Racing Pontiac and the KB Racing team is a stop in Bristol, Tenn. The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series moves from the Midwest to the East for the seventh annual NHRA O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway, May 18-20.
